Study Online at AEH

Digital innovation in education!

Online study is a new method of study at UEHS, using distance learning methods and techniques that combine the best features of traditional and distance learning.

Through the use of modern technology and advanced interactivity, it provides high quality instruction and a new dimension of convenience and flexibility – now also available to UEHS students.

When it’s a good time to choose an online studies program?

When you need more flexibility
in arranging your schedule

You can participate in online classes from anywhere. All you need is a computer, laptop, tablet or phone with internet access.

When you like convenience

All classes using distance learning methods and techniques, whether taught by a lecturer on campus or remotely, are additionally recorded and streamed online.

You therefore have access to the recorded teaching materials at hand, which you can return to according to your needs. If you like studying at home, in the library, outdoors or if you travel a lot – you will certainly appreciate the freedom that studying online gives you. Check yourself!

When you live far from the University

You don’t have to give up on your dream studies just because of a cumbersome, time-consuming and expensive commute! The fact that you live far away from the university is no longer such a barrier. And you won’t lose out on what is very important during your studies – that is, active contact with the academic community, with whom you can meet regularly via the interactive MS Teams platform.

You also always have the opportunity to come to our modern campus, sit in the spacious auditorium and listen to a lecture in a traditional form… and after classes meet with friends in one of the many fantastic venues available at your fingertips in the very centre of Warsaw! Do you want to join us? Choose your dream studies and enroll today!

Questions and answers

Studying online is still a new concept, although it is already standard in many countries – this is why we often hear questions related to online studying.
Here are the answers to the most common questions:

HOW WILL THE CLASSES LOOK LIKE?

The online studies program consists of three types of classes:

Remote classes on the MS Teams platform

Classes are delivered fully remotely – they take place according to a specific schedule, at fixed times and dates – in real time. In order to be able to actively engage with the group, students should have a webcam and microphone or other equipment that allows interactive participation in these classes.

Remote classes on the NAVOICA platform

Some lectures or exercises will take place as original e-learning courses on a remote learning platform (NAVOICA). This is usually 2-5 courses throughout the course of study. For some of the courses, the student can declare in advance whether they are doing the course as an e-learning course or traditionally taught by a teacher. NAVOICA is a platform built on the basis of the world’s most popular solution of this type, EdX (https://www.edx.org/), and is fully supported by the Ministry of Education. Students can complete these courses at their own pace, which will only be limited by the deadlines for completing specific parts of the course, set by the lecturers. Regular contact with the lecturer in charge of the course is ensured during consultations at predetermined and announced dates. During the consultations, the lecturer is available to help you with any additional explanations or to elaborate on issues from the course, should you require this. In addition, the lecturer conducts a final exam or credit, possibly mid-term colloquia. Students have access to teaching materials prepared by the lecturer as well as tests to check their progress on an ongoing basis, and learning is carried out independently by the student.

On-campus classes during assemblies

Some classes take place on the AEH campus. These are mostly classes that shape practical skills. The dates of the on-campus reunions scheduled for the course are communicated to the students at least three months before the start of the academic year. If required, on-campus classes may also be additionally streamed online and recorded and made available to students along with other teaching materials.

WHAT DOES THE TERM „ONLINE STUDIES” MEAN?

The Polish law on higher education does not define directly the term “online studies”. Instead, it refers to classes conducted using distance learning techniques and methods. This means that there are still only two modes of study, differing in class schedules and the number of hours completed as part of the curriculum:

  • Full-time mode
  • Part-time (during weekends) mode

In each of these forms of study, it is possible to conduct classes using distance learning methods and techniques to the extent of up to 75% of the total number of ECTS credits for studies with a general academic profile and up to 50% for studies with a practical profile. Class schedules at UEHS are set up in such a way as to allow you the flexibility to study online, but at the same time to ensure that you obtain the required number of ECTS credits in accordance with the regulations during on-site classes, fieldwork or work placements.

HOW MUCH DOES AN ONLINE PROGRAM COST?

Online studies offers the same quality of education, programmes, number of hours and ECTS credits as a traditional degree programme and therefore does not differ in price. Tuition fees for online studies are the same as for the corresponding traditional studies – according to the chosen field of study, the language of study (Polish or English) and the form of study – full-time (full-time studies) or part-time (distance learning studies).

HOW THE DIPLOMA WILL LOOK LIKE?

Graduates shall be awarded a diploma for the completion of full-time or part-time studies in a given field of study. The applicable model of the degree certificate does not provide for the inclusion of information on courses taught using distance learning methods and techniques. The same applies to the Diploma Supplement, which does not indicate that individual courses were completed remotely.

HOW WILL EXAMS AND ASSESSMENTS BE HELD?

The forms in which examinations and credits are carried out are defined by the lecturer for each course in the course syllabus. Thus, examinations and credits for courses delivered using distance learning methods and techniques may also be conducted remotely (online). They may be in the form of a written test, e.g. an electronic test, open questions, solving tasks, an essay, a written paper on a specific topic, completing a task or project commissioned by the lecturer, or an oral examination and assessment (the student connects remotely with the academic teacher and answers questions). In the case of examinations and final course tests carried out by means of distance communication methods, the University reserves the right to use IT tools enabling the assessment of the reliability of the examination process and synchronous verification of the identity of the person taking the test.

HOW WILL DIPLOMA EXAMINATION BE HELD?

The diploma examination can take place either at the university or remotely. If the diploma examination takes place remotely, the student will connect with the examination board under appropriate conditions.

WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED AND HOW?

The set of documents is the same as for full-time or part-time studies conducted traditionally (at the University). They are only differentiated according to the requirements resulting from legal regulations for Polish and foreign citizens. Documents can be submitted electronically, but signed originals or certified copies must be delivered to the Recruitment Office (e.g. in person or by courier or post).

ARE THERE ANY DIFFERENCES IN THE STUDY PROGRAMMES?

There are no differences – the programs for online study and the number of hours and ECTS credits are exactly the same as for full-time studies delivered at the University.

WILL IT BE POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE WAY I STUDY FROM ONLINE TO ON-CAMPUS OR VICE VERSA?

Yes – there will be a possibility to change the study mode. In the case of small groups, a request for such a change will be subject to individual consideration by the Dean of Studies. Notwithstanding studying online you are allowed to obtain a student visa to Poland.
